Pump Fun is under fire after a weekend of outrageous livestreams on its platform led to widespread backlash. Controversial incidents included a man threatening a goldfish with a gun, a child issuing violent threats against their family, and another individual promising to relieve himself while locked in a dog cage.

The chaos sparked an outcry on X (formerly Twitter), where users called for the feature to be disabled. Pudgy Penguins’ safety project manager commented, “Shut down the livestream feature. This is out of control.” Similarly, a core engineer for Eigen Labs expressed frustration, warning, “Pump Fun is going to screw over the entire industry.”
CryptoCaster Quick Check:
Before the weekend’s controversies, Pump Fun co-founder Alon acknowledged concerns surrounding the livestream feature. He stated, “With the live streaming meta in full force, there have been many people that came forward with some very legitimate concerns regarding what content is allowed on the platform.”
Alon added that Pump Fun would aim for greater transparency in its rules, emphasizing that moderation efforts were already in place. Despite these assurances, the platform continues to host questionable tokens and bizarre promotional stunts.
Among the many eyebrow-raising livestreams, several stood out for their disturbing nature. Here’s a look at some of the most controversial moments:
Pretend Suicide Stunt
One livestream featured a creator claiming they would end their life unless their token’s market cap increased. Although initially alarming, eagle-eyed viewers noticed signs that the stunt was fake. One user noted, “I saw the video, and the guy moved his arms as to grab his rescuer’s shoulders. Sick, but fake.”
Another unsettling act involved a masked man holding a gun to a bagged goldfish. The man demanded that his coin’s market cap reach $1 million or the fish would suffer dire consequences.
The bizarre livestreams have raised concerns about Pump Fun’s potential impact on the crypto industry. Critics argue that such content undermines trust and credibility in token creation platforms, possibly leading to stricter scrutiny from regulators.
Calls for Immediate Action
As calls to shut down Pump Fun’s livestream feature grow louder, the platform faces increasing pressure to take responsibility for the chaos. Whether through stricter moderation or disabling the feature entirely, many agree that changes are urgently needed to protect the platform’s reputation and the industry at large.
Animal Stunts and Token Chaos
One shocking stunt involved the promotion of a token called Chicken Fight Club, where the creators livestreamed themselves beheading a chicken. To add to the controversy, they allegedly launched another token called Justice for Mike, named after the chicken, which briefly hit a $6 million valuation before crashing—a textbook Pump Fun pump-and-dump scenario.
Guns Galore
Many Pump Fun promotions also inexplicably feature firearms. Beyond the infamous goldfish threat, one token creator claimed they would attack a school, while another, appearing far too young to legally own a firearm, threatened to harm their family with a shotgun unless their token reached a $60,000 market cap. However, it remains uncertain whether the shotgun in question was even real.
In a rather alarming display, a token creator was observed discharging his firearm each time the value of his token experienced an increase. This unsettling behavior occurred in a setting where actual gunfire was present, raising concerns about the implications of such actions within the cryptocurrency community.
On a more disturbing note, an individual donned in a balaclava and restrained by a leash, mimicking a dog within a cage, communicated via a whiteboard his intention to defecate in the cage should his token’s market capitalization reach one million. Additionally, he outlined other bizarre milestones, including consuming dog food and engaging in inappropriate acts, albeit while clothed.
Trevv, a young Caucasian man, is making every effort to market his $NIGGA token while embracing a provocative persona.👀 His appearance is striking, as he is depicted with a chocolate coating, seemingly inhaling galaxy gas, smoking a joint, and sporting a missing tooth. In his quest for visibility, Trevv has expressed a strong desire to appear on a podcast, likely to further promote his token.
In light of the controversial content that has surfaced on the platform, it remains uncertain what specific actions Pump Fun will undertake beyond enhancing the clarity of its regulations. There is also ambiguity regarding the potential suspension of its livestream feature, leaving users and observers questioning the platform’s future direction.
Currently, the most recent official communication concerning the turmoil at Pump Fun was made by Alon in a post last Friday, which has become a focal point for understanding the ongoing situation. This statement has not only highlighted the challenges faced by the platform but also raised further inquiries about its operational integrity and commitment to maintaining a safe environment for its users.
